Jan Burger CFP®
Managing Director, Wealth Manager
Jan joined SchonbergTrust as Director on the 1st of April 2010. He specialises in Financial, Estate and Investment Planning.
Jan completed a Post Graduate Diploma in Financial Planning via the University of the Free State’s Department of Insurance Law. He is a Certified Financial Planner®.
Jan has been working in the Life Assurance Industry since 1983 when he joined Sanlam. He acted as Senior Manager in Sanlam’s Product Development and Marketing Department for 13 years. During his career at Sanlam he also lectured in subjects for the Post Graduate Diploma in Financial Planning.
Jan was the chairman of Topmed Medical Scheme for 3 years. He has been on Topmed’s Executive and Investment Committee since 2005 where he has been managing +/- R700 million on behalf of Topmed.
Jan is a keen mountain biker and loves water-skiing and sailing.
Fred Liedtke
Director
Fred joined SchonbergTrust on the 1st of February 2012. He holds a BA LLB through the University of Stellenbosch.
Fred is admitted as attorney and conveyancer of the High Court of SA. Post qualification he has been involved in various areas of his field of expertise, relating to Commercial & Corporate work. His experience includes advising on mergers and acquisitions, as well as advising on BEE transactions.
He has always had a focus on specific niche fields in the financial services industry which included the re-engineering, restructuring and financing of contingent corporate liabilities of both listed and unlisted large cap entities.
Prior to joining the board of SchonbergTrust (Pty) Ltd he was the chairman of DSC Inc. (a conglomerate of personal injury law firms).Prior to that he served on the board of a financial services group (a former member entity in the MetropolitanGroup Ltd [now MMI Ltd], where he advised on a broad range of matters related to financial markets and products.
He represents MeqCapital Partners (Pty) Ltd on the board of SchonbergTrust.
Fred enjoys spending time with his family and his favourite pass-time activity is reading.
Pieter Rossouw CFP®
Director, Wealth Manager
Pieter Rossouw has been in the Financial Service Industry since 1 August 2003. He joined SchonbergTrust on the 3rd of February 2006 and has been a Director since that date. He is a Certified Financial Planner®.
Pieter completed a BSc, Business Management en Administration Honours and Post Graduate Diploma in Financial Planning through the University of Stellenbosch. He also obtained an Advanced Post Graduate Diploma in Financial Planning (UOFS).
Pieter focuses on Personal Financial Planning and is the medical aid specialist at SchonbergTrust.
Pieter loves the outdoors and enjoys camping with his family. He is also an active sportsman and enjoys running, mountain biking and swimming.
Schalk Kotze CFP®
Wealth Manager
Schalk is a Wealth Manager at SchonbergTrust. He joined SchonbergTrust on the 1st of May 2011.
Schalk completed an MA degree and Post Graduate Diploma in Higher Education at the University of the Free State. He also has a Post Graduate Diploma in Financial Planning (UOFS).
Schalk started his career in the Financial Services Industry at Old Mutual as Learner Production manager in 1997 and became a representative for Old Mutual in 1998. Before Schalk joined SchonbergTrust, he gained valuable experience as a Para Planner at the offices of an Independent Broker.
Schalk is a passionate bowls player and holds many titles on club, provincial and national level.
Maryka Perold CFP®
Director, Chief Investment Manager
Rykie joined SchonbergTrust in 1997 and was appointed as a Director on the 1st of January 1999. She fulfils the role of Chief Investment Manager. In this position she actively manages client’s investments in order to maximise their investment returns.
Rykie completed MA and MSc degrees through the University of Stellenbosch before she started working in the Financial Services Industry in 1994. She also completed a Post Graduate Diploma in Financial Planning through the University of the Free State’s Department of Insurance Law. She is a Certified Financial Planner® .
Rykie is a keen golfer. She also loves gardening and photography.
Mariëtte Wiese CFP®
Director, Financial Planner, Practice Manager
Mariëtte joined SchonbergTrust on 1st of June 2011 and has been a Director since February 2012.
In her role as Financial Planner she does astute financial planning for our clients by holistically looking at all the aspects of Financial Planning. Effective management of the client’s risk profile, the core of successful Wealth Management, is hereby ensured.
She is also responsible for the oversight of administration and general processes in the office.
Mariëtte completed a BSc Hons degree and Post Graduate Diploma in Higher Education through the University of Stellenbosch. She was a Mathematics, Biology and General Science Teacher for 11 years. In 2004 she started working in the Financial Services Industry as Financial Advisor at First Coast Risk Management & Financial Services.
She has a Post Graduate Diploma in Financial Planning through the University of Stellenbosch. Mariëtte is a Certified Financial Planner®.
Mariëtte enjoys playing squash. She is a devoted cricket supporter. Her hobbies include photography and traveling.
Wessel Botha CFP®
Wealth Manager
Wessel joined SchonbergTrust on the 1st of March 2013. He is a Certified Financial Planner®.
Wessel holds a BComm Marketing degree (University of Stellenbosch). He completed a Post Graduate Diploma in Financial Planning via the University of the Free State’s Department of Insurance Law. He also obtained an Advanced Post Graduate Diploma in Financial Planning (UOFS).
He joined Sanlam on the 10th of January 2007, working as Business Consultant. He extended his career in the same role when he started working for Old Mutual in 2011. Wessel gained valuable experience by working side by side with Independent Financial Advisors.
Wessel focuses on the wealth management of young professionals, starting with the reduction of all levels of risk, the limiting of tax responsibilities and the accumulation of retirement monies, whilst estate and will planning rounds off the exercise.
He is an avid sportsman and enjoys golf, running, touch rugby and any form of exercise.
Sandy Conradie
Personal Assistant
Sandy joined SchonbergTrust in January 2010. Her strong administrative skills and conscientiousness make her a perfect fit for her role of Receptionist as well as Personal Assistant to Rykie Perold.
Sandy gained valuable experience while working as personal assistant to the Account Executives at an Advertising company from 1981 until 1994. After that she has been an Administrative Officer at a landscaping company.
Sandy is the proud mother of three beautiful daughters.
Christine Bester
Personal Assistant
Christine was brought on board the SchonbergTrust team on the 1st of June 2010.
She acts as Personal Assistant to Jan Burger, Pieter Rossouw, Schalk Kotze and Wessel Botha.
Christine matriculated from Sand du Plessis High School in Bloemfontein in 2008.
She takes pride in always delivering service of a high standard.
Christine enjoys going to the movies and likes reading.
Mandé Skuce
Administrative Officer
Mandé joined SchonbergTrust on 1 June 2011.
She has been working in the Financial Services Industry since 2006 when she joined First Coast Risk Management & Financial Services.
She is responsible for all medical aid and provident fund administrative duties. She also performs administrative duties regarding other risk products and investments.
Mandé’s favourite pastime is reading.
Therésa Oosthuizen
Personal Assistant
Therésa completed a National Secretarial Certificate at the Stellenbosch Technical College in 1987.
She joined SchonbergTrust on 1 February 1988. Currently she is Personal Assistant to Rykie Perold.
Her dedication and thoroughness make her an excellent addition to the team.
Therésa loves gardening and enjoys a good crossword challenge.
Adéle van Dijk
Receptionist
Adéle joined SchonbergTrust on 1 March 2014. Her positive attitude and cheerful personality make her the perfect candidate for her role of Receptionist.
Her experience include working as a receptionist at an attorney's firm for 3 years, after which she joined the accounting department of a panel beating company for 10 years.
Adéle's favourite pass-time activities include reading non-fiction, painting and spending time at the sea.
She is the proud mother of a beautiful son and daughter.
Carol Davids
General Factotum
Carol joined SchonbergTrust on 1 February 2003.
She fulfils the very important role of preparing our clients the best coffee in town. Carol also attends to everybody in the office’s tea and coffee needs throughout the day and makes sure that the reception area and all our workstations are kept clean. She also acts as messenger and general factotum.
Carol always does her job with a smile and every cup of tea/coffee is made with tender love and care.
